The Defender Octa is a compact SUV with a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 and mild-hybrid system, sourced from BMW and shared with the Range Rover Sport SV. It has a powerful 626 hp powertrain, the highest ever used in a factory Defender.
The vehicle has an 8-speed automatic transmission with high and low-range gears, allowing for 0-60 mph acceleration in just 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. For off-roaders, 20-inch wheels with 33-inch Goodyear Advanced All-Terrain tires are available. JLR has developed an off-road launch mode for optimal acceleration and braking on loose surfaces.

The new model can be activated by holding the OCTA button on the steering wheel, allowing it to enter “OCTA Mode,” which features an Off-Road Launch control for loose surfaces, minimized traction control, and unique braking calibration. The Terrain Response system offers off-road modes for various surfaces.

What Does Defender OCTA Mean
The new OCTA name, positioned at the top of the Defender 110 range, is inspired by the octahedral shape of cut diamonds, aiming to invoke durability and luxury. The unique encircled graphic signature features a four-pointed gloss black diamond shape with a machined titanium disk on various panels.

The Defender 110 OCTA and OCTA First Edition are powered by a powerful BMW-sourced 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-8, producing 626 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. The OCTA is the most powerful production Defender ever, with an 8-speed auto gearbox and various drive modes. Standard Defender 110 V-8 models have 518 hp and 461 lb-ft. The improved OCTA model can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds, with a capped top speed of 155 mph.
Defender OCTA Price In India
The 2025 Defender OCTA Edition, not yet launched in India, starts at $169,275 (1,41,30,577.64 Indian Rupee) in the United States for one year, while the standard flagship OCTA starts at $153,475(1,28,11,640.25 Indian Rupee). Production is capped at 4,000 units, with a potential Defender 90 version rumored to be marketable.
